A roller coaster ride from being a generalist to a specialist
For someone who is passionate about conversations, my ideal career choice was marketing & communications. I started off with a dual role of a marcom professional but gradually found solace in communications - from internal to external and then digital, I traversed between various facets of organizational and employee communication. The best part of my job is the ability to connect topics to people and provide solutions to improve employee experience and organizational culture.
A natural storyteller, I tailor communications for specific audience
At Allianz, we work with many topics - related to organization, employees, customers, our purpose & culture, leadership, ESG, or employer branding. My job is to bring research-backed topics to management and project teams to provide solutions and help deliver our brand promise. I also listen actively using pulse checks and engagement surveys to determine the efficacy of our actions and deploy course correction if necessary. I support the development of internal communication campaigns using channels like email, newsletter, intranet, social media etc.
I love working with diverse teams to create engaging content
I don various hats - thinker, problem solver, negotiator, writer and at times influencer. The ability to juggle in various roles gives me the motivation and enthusiasm to work every day!
Stay open, stay curious, and don't forget to tap into the network!
I am reminded of a quote – “Your network is your only net worth”. Investing in building networks and creating powerful connections irrespective of your ambitions is important. Besides networking, I would say curiosity and enthusiasm. I am a firm believer in the power of thoughts - what you think consistently will eventually become your reality. This is why it is so important to be aware of our thoughts and convert them into actions.
Stay open, stay curious, and don't forget to tap into the network!
As a communicator, we are often given improvement areas to focus on, and much of the time - it boils down to transparent, real-time effective communication. And we take this feedback very seriously! I design, ideate, and implement projects/teams/actions to deliver improved services and experiences. This results in an increase in overall employee satisfaction - indeed a sign of success.
