A Licensed Nurse that pursued a corporate career.
Perhaps, one of my greatest decisions in life is the career shift I've done. As early as I was training for employment in the hospital owned by the university I graduated from, I had to make a choice due to some personal matters at hand. Hence, the start of my career in the insurance industry. I started as a New Business and Underwriting Assistant in a local life insurance company then was offered a role to be an Executive Assistant for various C-levels. After a while, I realized I wanted more - a stronger development, more experience, and a company that will bring the best out me and put my skills into good use without comprising a good work culture and environment. It was then that faith and fate that brought me to Allianz PNB Life, the Allianz OE in the Philippines.
It is in Allianz PNB Life that I was able to realize where and what I want to be. I started here as an Executive Assistant to CHRO and CFO which I really enjoyed because I was so exposed way beyond what I expected! With so much exposure I realized I wanted to be an HR Business Partner (HRBP) but that time it was not meant for me, but I was given an opportunity to be a Risk Management Specialist handling qualitative risk then eventually the door opened, and now I am our entity's HRBP.
I'm very fond of Allianz and I am very grateful as well! It's thanks to this entity and all its offerings that I am standing in this spot right now. And yes, with Allianz's help, there's no way up, but to go forward and go up!
As an HR Business Partner, I take care of the employees.
An HR Business Partner in Allianz has a very broad scope and has a significant impact on all HR facets especially in the strategic and operational aspect.
As a developing Allianz entity, I have a wider and more fruitful experience as an HRBP in Allianz PNB Life since I have more exposure to responsibilities needed to be delivered not just locally but especially those instructed by the Region and the Group. I work closely with organizational leaders to develop an HR agenda that aligns with the organizational strategy and translate these to plans and actual executions. It's part of my tasks to contribute to the enablement of operating excellence by delivering the end-to-end experience across HR processes. I am also exposed to data-related responsibilities, especially that this HR Metrics and Analytics is one of Allianz key deliverables. Aside from these, I also handle organizational studies, employee relations, engagement, communications and regulatory matters.
Though I am an HRBP, I am also the Talent Management Center of Expertise (CoE) where I my responsibility to ensure the delivery of all Allianz Talent Management strategies and methodologies. As a Talent Management CoE, I am the strategic partner to the business by creating talent management processes that fit for the organization’s needs. I also offer the employee self-service tools to design career pathways individually and to help workforce understand their career development options in the organization aligned with the company’s strategy.
The partnership, the exposure to people and that everyday is new!
One thing I realized over the course of my corporate career is that I prefer something that is not routine and I found that in my current role where every day seems like a new day. With all the amazing exposures and experiences, plus the opportunities offered by Allianz, I get to reap the fruits of being an HRBP that is very much involved with everything in the organization and most especially with the people's lives. There's just so much to learn not just from the company itself and the technical aspects of the business but also from the people. There's a lot of stories to hear, experiences being shared and a lot of appreciation of various situations, not just about their employment but also their personal lives. What's more exciting is that you get have that privilege to serve them and the organization by initiating and implementing various measures, initiatives and projects to give the best experience they can have as they work for Allianz.
At some point I can say that being an HRBP is like the "nurse" of the corporate world where you get to support people, help them with their needs and lift them up for the better. And I'd say, nothing beats the happiness that comes from that kind of fulfillment.
You will never know unless you try. See the good in everything.
Fear of the unknown is natural for everyone, but we won't get to know and realize until we take the first step and experience what's in front of us. It is only through experiencing things that we become more knowledgeable and mature enough to know what to do next, what to do better and what can actually be the best for us which will actually be the one that will make us happy.
Mistakes, sorrows, pains... It is also natural. It's part of life. That's the best way we can actually learn. See the good in everything no matter how hard or negative it has been. Because it is through this that we can really appreciate the learnings and eventually will allow us able to do much better without having anything against anyone, any situation and even yourself.
