What gives you a sense of belonging at work?

People look into this question with different lenses and perspectives. For me personally, a sense of belonging means the following and these are the attributes we encourage and practice at Allianz:

1. Appreciated at work
2. Considered as a valuable team member
3. Making a positive impact on projects, company and colleagues
4. Make a Psychologically Safe Environment
5. Make contact with others.
6. Allow those who are feeling ignored to speak.
7. Self-identity should be celebrated.
8. Inquire about suggestions
9. Employee-led Communities Should Be Encouraged

Thank you for raising this question. For me, it would be the good working environment that fosters collaboration, empowerment, appreciation and good well-being within the organization, and this setup is one of the great things I am enjoying in Allianz right now. They provide us, the operating entities, the guidance through various measures to ensure that we are able manifest this kind of culture and mindset within the organization. I myself is an experiential witness to this and as part of the HR Team, this is one of our key responsibilities that is aligned with Allianz.

I would say for me the sense of belonging comes from the people culture we have at Allianz. Having a purpose at work is great, the goal you aim for, and is interconnected to the sense of belonging, but the latter for me comes more from the interactions I have with my colleagues - of whom many became my friends in private life too. With those kind of warm relationships I made with my colleagues, with the mutual understanding and support, is what makes me feel belong to Allianz family.

Hello and thank you for this great question! For me what gives me a sense of belonging is being able to bring the whole me to work and knowing that I am empowered, encouraged to grow and supported without having to pretend that I am someone that I am not.
