Hi Jacob, thanks for the question! Yes, the projects I’ve been working on are interesting and also extremely varied. For example, one project I have been asked to work on this month is to work out what the likely impacts could be of extreme scenarios like a hazardous materials spill from a truck or airplane collision at an airport! Another ongoing project is looking at how we enhance our Products & services to meet incoming regulatory standards around Product Design & Distribution. Both require different ways of thinking which is what I enjoy most – the variety and constant problems to solve mean there are never dull days working in Product Management.

From a personal perspective, the project that I found the most engaging was being able to work with our Head Office in Munich on what best practice looks like in respect of pricing and underwriting for motor fleet. This was a fantastic opportunity to work with colleagues from across the globe to debate, discuss and shape what that best practice looks like. The end result was a great set of tools we are now starting to build in Allianz, and an opportunity to learn from others and add to my global network; something that may not be possible if I worked for a local insurer.

The kind of projects you’ll get exposure for if you join Allianz will vary based on what area you join, however one thing that is always consistent is interesting projects are available to those that put their hand up. There are always opportunities available for people willing to give things a try; there is also never a shortage of things to do! The global project mentioned above meant putting in extra hours, but given the great experience I got out of it I wouldn't change anything about it. Remember, be bold and put your hand up for new challenges.
