Hi there,

Thanks for your question. I think a lot of graduate recruitment processes are quite similar, but what made Allianz stand out for me was how hands on and proactive the Talent Program team were in supporting me through the process. They were great with keeping me updated on my application, particularly in the final stages of the process, which is when you start feeling nervous and are wondering whether or not you’ve made it through to the next round.

The online application was straight forward, I uploaded my CV and a cover letter and answered a couple of screening questions, which probed me to think about why I wanted to work for Allianz – other than just wanting a job.

From there, I sat a video interview, which I had never done before and found a little bit challenging because it felt very strange to talk to a computer with no idea how my responses were being received. During that stage, I also performed some psychometric testing. If you’re nervous about this part of the process, there are some practice tests available online and it can be helpful to practice before sitting the actual test.

The next stage was an assessment centre. I enjoyed my assessment centre, I had the opportunity to learn more about Allianz and meet some of the current graduates. The activities we performed were quite fun, and got us to think in a really practical and creative way about different challenges/tasks we might encounter in the work environment. I left my assessment centre feeling excited about the possibility of working for Allianz.

The final stage was an interview with a General Manager from the business. I remember being extremely nervous, until Dave sat down and basically just chatted with me. The way the interview questions flowed into a natural conversation helped me feel really comfortable. I didn’t feel like I was being interrogated, rather that Dave wanted to get to know me on a deeper level than what was on my CV.

My tips for going through any recruitment process, but particularly Allianz, is to do your research on the company. Do a deep dive, and assess if that’s the type of company you want to work for, and if it’s the type of work you want to do. You should be able to explain why you want to work there and how you think working there will benefit you and your career.

It is also crucial that you’ve thought about why that company should be interested in you. Think about your strengths (what you’re good at) and examples that highlight how you’ve demonstrated them in the past. You could take examples from things your part-time work, internships, university projects, sports or community involvement. It’s not enough to say “I’m a great communicator/team player/problem solver etc. You have to be able to back it up.

Good luck with your application! I wish you all the best with it and I hope this was helpful for you.
